Scientific Articles and Case Reports
There is a fascinating podcast with Patrick Soon-Shiong, a South African and American transplant surgeon, medical researcher, businessman, inventor and investor. He has over 500 worldwide patents and 100 scientific publications. Some of his important research has addressed the white blood cells that actually kill cancer cells: NK (natural killer) and T cells. He talks about a “triangle offense” of cells that can generate memory to kill cancer cells comprised of the NK cells, the T cells and the memory T cells.
Dr. Soon-Shiong has developed an injection that will increase and proliferate the NK cells, the T cells, and the CD4+ and CD8+ T cells, without up regulating the suppressive T cells. This type of injection is similar to the injectables already used to increase red blood cells (Epogen) and neutrophil white blood cells (Neupogen).

Alpha-Lipoic Acid and Low-Dose Naltrexone Case Report
This is an interesting case report by the late Burton Berkson, MD, PhD. It describes a patient with metastatic kidney cancer who had exhausted standard medical care, who visited the New Mexico Medical Center and began an integrative program using intravenous (IV) alpha-lipoic acid, IV vitamin C, low-dose naltrexone, and hydroxycitrate along with a healthy life style program. Over five years his PET scan showed no residual glucose uptake, and the patient returned to work. Nine years later with an integrative program, the patient has stable disease with no apparent signs and symptoms of stage IV kidney cancer.
